We take pride in our long history and attribute a large proportion of our success to honesty and integrity in all our dealings. We consistently deliver what we promise in an ethical and professional manner.
We invest in developing and maintaining long standing working relations with our customers and suppliers to ensure that we deliver quality services and products at the right price and time in line with expectations.
A pioneer of the steel industry he was actively involved in the development of standards and promoting the use and application of steel. He was a founding member of the British Standards Institute, Chairman of both the Committee of Management, London Iron and Steel Exchange and of the Steel and Tinplate Section, London Chamber of Commerce. He published Skelton’s Economics of Iron & Steel.
Later, his son, R.A. Skelton published the Steel Construction Handbook, incorporating British Standards (BS), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and Deutsche Industrie Norm (DIN) specifications. This became the reference work for Engineers for 50 years until the complexities of construction materials became too diverse for one publication.
H.J. Skelton has operated as an import / export steel merchant out of England since it was formed in 1883.
We continue to use the original company logo which depicts the “year of formation”, a “Beam” that was so important for the worldwide development of the company and the “S” for Skelton in honour of the founder of the company.
